Howard Hanna Mortgage Services Kicks Off 2023

On Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, more than 100 loan officers and the management team from Howard Hanna Mortgage Services (HHMS) in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan gathered at the Avalon Grand Resort in Warren, Ohio, to kick off 2023!

Duffy Hanna, president of Howard Hanna Financial Services, opened the meeting with a special report on the HHMS purchase loan rankings. During 2022, HHMS claimed the No. 1 ranking in Allegheny and Westmorland counties in Pennsylvania, third in Butler County, Pa., third in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and fourth in Summit County, Ohio. Top producer Michelle Lux was recognized for her outstanding accomplishment as the top purchase loan mortgage loan officer in Akron, Ohio. Congratulations, Michelle, and the rest of the team, for this fantastic achievement.

Hoby Hanna, president of Howard Hanna Real Estate, inspired the group to continue to work stronger together and move forward together as one organization. Emphasizing that everyone is accountable for market share growth to support the Hanna family of companies, Hanna outlined the renewed focus on integrating the tech tools between brokerage and mortgage to grow online lead capture. Being a real estate company with a mortgage company, we’re leaning into our superpower to be the disrupter we believe we are.

Throughout the day, attendees heard from company leadership regarding how we are poised for success in 2023, specific goal, and the high payoff strategies that will help us achieve success. Russ Ford presented statistics from the National Sales Executive Association, highlighting that 80% of sales are made after the fifth contact with the potential customer. Indeed, this statistic will motivate our team to be tenacious when connecting with new leads. Jim Axner touted that “every yard counts” and reminded the group that consistent and smart sales habits are a recipe for success. Josie Allot spoke about how good leadership starts with listening and the benefits of being willing to learn new strategies. Bill Ryan discussed accountability and getting back to the basics. Ryan also plugged strong communication, as this was the top item we could do to improve our relationship with agents. Finally, Peter Bauer refreshed the team on the many sales tools available for prospecting and servicing loans. The team looks forward to learning more about them through more in-depth training in the coming weeks.

During a panel discussion with some of our top producers, we learned about their high pay-off strategies that they attribute to some of their success. Ken Katis told us about his selling systems and offered his top tips for the group. Lux taught about the importance of social media marketing and shared some of her secrets to growing fans and engagement on Facebook. Forest Jewell explained that his prospecting and selling wins start with being present, and he reinforced how much success comes from being in the offices he services. Joel Cooper, one of our newest HHMS family members in Columbus, Ohio, shared how impressed he is with the available tech tools and how he has found his niche using the CardTapp mobile app.

In addition, the team heard from the new Vice President of Community Lending LaMarcus Thurman about the new community lending division that is now part of HHMS. They learned how this strengthens Howard Hanna’s offering to those in underserved communities, reinforcing why we are all “Stronger Together.” The team also got a preview of the newly formed company, United Purpose Mortgage, which is gearing up for its official launch.

Closing out the meeting, we celebrated the MLO team as they were presented with their 2022 Awards. Congratulations to our bronze, silver, gold and platinum team members!
