Our Favorite Thanksgiving Sides

Every Thanksgiving meal is centered around turkey, but it’s important to remember that side dishes make the holiday. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a lot of carbs and sweets. If you’re looking for some inspiration or forgetting a classic, we’re here to help!

Stuffing

One of the classics is stuffing. Stuffing is one the sides that you think of when you think about the holiday. You can put some spins on it by making it homemade or adding bacon or other toppings in as well.

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Another staple at the table is mashed potatoes and gravy. There’s so many ways to spice them up. Add sour cream or Greek yogurt to them to make them creamier. Or add in some bacon or chives to add some flavor.

Mac and Cheese

Everyone loves mac and cheese. From store bought to making it in a crockpot. Mac and cheese is the side dish that is bound to be a hit. Top it with breadcrumbs to give it an extra crunch.

Green Bean Casserole

A dish that always makes waves at Thanksgiving is green bean casserole. This baked dish includes a creamy sauce—often made from cream of mushroom soup—and topped with crispy fried onions. If you’re looking to add it to your lineup, here’s a recipe from McCormick.

Cornbread Casserole

A lesser known dish that tends to be a hit is cornbread casserole. It consists of cornbread mix, whole kernel corn, creamed corn, sour cream and butter. If you’re looking to make it a little healthier or add some protein, you can replace the sour cream with Greek yogurt. Here is a recipe from Allrecipes for you to try it out.

Pumpkin and Apple Pie

What is Thanksgiving without desserts to finish things off? Everyone loves the classics of apple and pumpkin pie. These desserts will make everyone happy before they go take their naps and finish off the night watching some football.
