Pittsburgh, PA (June 26, 2020) – Robert E. Blackman, former Vice President of Business Development at Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, has been announced as the newest member of the Board of Directors of the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund.
Prior to taking on the role of Vice President of Business Development at Howard Hanna, Robert also worked for eighteen years as the President and Co-Founder of Blackman & DeStefano Real Estate. He has held dozens of board positions throughout his career, including leading Gilda’s Club through a merger with the American Cancer Society and leading the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink initiative for the past three years. Blackman has been honored with numerous community involvement awards and been named by the Albany Times Union as one of “a dozen who make a difference in the Capital Region.”
“Robert’s real estate industry experience is extensive, and he has been involved in over 20 board positions for nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and real estate groups throughout his career. Robert’s extensive experience in the real estate industry, his work in various management roles, and his knowledge of Howard Hanna and our Children’s Free Care Fund make him an excellent addition to our Board of Directors,” said Kristen Normile, Director for the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund.
In total, the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund has raised more than $16.5 million. Last year, the Free Care Fund campaign raised over $1 million for the fifth consecutive year. The $1,039,234 raised in 2019 goes directly to lifesaving medical care for children in regions where Howard Hanna operates, as well as programs that support children and families in need. The Children’s Free Care Fund assures that children never be denied the best medical care available, whether helping families without insurance afford care for their children or to fund cutting-edge care that insurance may not cover.
“The Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund is our signature fundraising initiative, and is made possible thanks to our offices hosting hundreds of events across our market areas each year. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Howard Hanna agents and offices, we have been able to help children and families in need over the last two decades. It’s a pleasure to welcome Robert, who has firsthand experience with Howard Hanna’s efforts, to the Board of Directors,” said Howard W. “Hoddy” Hanna, III.
