Virginia Tops List of Best Places to Retire in U.S.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (February 9, 2023) – Howard Hanna Real Estate Services (HHRES) is pleased to report that Virginia, one of HHRES’s fastest-growing regions, has been named the best place to retire in the U.S. in 2023.

The ranking comes from WalletHub, which ranked all 50 states across 47 key indicators of retirement-friendliness. Criteria for the rankings included affordability, quality of life and health-related factors.

“I’m not at all surprised that Virginia topped the list,” said Howard Hanna Holdings Chairman Howard “Hoddy” Hanna, III. “Our southeast market has grown so much in the last several years, and Virginia has led the way.”

With a sprawling shoreline, mild climate and a top-rated geriatric healthcare system, many older adults choose to relocate to Virginia as they approach retirement.

“We have so many beautiful properties in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and across the entire state of Virginia,” said Hanna. “It’s a huge market right now.”
